Romans 12:9ff

Some assorted verses: (I use the English Standard Version btw)

“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.”

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”

“Be constant in prayer.”

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.”

“Live in harmony with one another.”

“Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honourable in the sight of all.”

“…as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.”

Never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God.”

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirst, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

So… now, if you actually keep that in mind, how do you justify your method of interpreting Romans 13?

Irresistible Revolution

I recently finished Irresistible Revolution, and I definitely suggest it to everyone. But be careful, it will challenge you. In it, Shane Claiborne talks alot about how Jesus really meant what he said. Especially stuff about taking care of each other, and loving your neighbors and your enemies. He also talks about the Myth of Redemptive Violence. I’ve really been convicted about this in the past year or two. I used to support the war in Iraq, and whatnot, but I’ve come to realize that it’s just as bad as the terrorists attacking. Violence just begets Violence. Love given in the face of Violence, that produces something completely different though.

Please…for the Kingdom’s sake, give this book a chance?
